Capital One Miles

→ Japan Airlines Mileage Bank

18 days left · Sep 30 Base rate 4:3

+30%

1,000 → 975

Started 09-01. Base ratio is 4:3, so with the bonus 1,000 Cap One miles → 975 JAL miles — close to, but not quite, 1:1. Only worth it with a JAL redemption in mind (JAL/oneworld premium cabins, intra-Japan). JAL miles expire 36 months after earning

Chase Ultimate Rewards

→ Air Canada Aeroplan

18 days left · Sep 30

+20%

1,000 → 1,200

Started 08-12. 1,000 UR → 1,200 Aeroplan, 1,000-point minimum, unlimited uses. Stacks with the 10% Chase Aeroplan cardmember bonus on single transfers of 50,000+ UR (capped at 25,000 bonus Aeroplan points per calendar year) for 30% total

American Express Membership Rewards

→ Hilton Honors

32 days left · Oct 14 Base rate 1:2

+30%

1,000 → 2,600

Started 09-01. Base 1:2 becomes 1:2.6 (1,000 MR → 2,600 Hilton). May be targeted — log in to Amex to confirm it shows. Hilton points are ~0.4c, so 2.6 Hilton per MR ≈ 1.04c/MR — still below the ~2c MR baseline; only sensible for a specific Hilton stay already planned. Bonus points do not count toward Hilton elite status

What a transfer bonus is

Banks normally move points to airline and hotel partners at a fixed rate, usually 1:1. A transfer bonus temporarily adds extra miles on top, so 1,000 points might land as 1,200 or 1,300. The bonus applies to points you already have, so it is a raise on your existing balance.

🎯

When to take one

Only transfer with a specific redemption in mind. Transfers are one-way and irreversible, and partner miles are usually worth less than flexible bank points. A 30% bonus into a program you will never use is a 100% loss.

📐

Read the base rate

A headline percentage can hide a poor base rate. A 30% bonus on a 4:3 transfer still leaves you short of 1:1, and a 30% bonus into a program whose points are worth a fraction of a cent may still be a bad trade. The 1,000 → N figure above shows what you actually receive.
